Not to make it all about me, but I’ve decided to call the one-of-ones side of ironwire byAVA. These are the pieces made with my own two hands in my studio. Small batch manufacturing is awesome, exciting and all that, BUT I love the physical process of making and I hope that a part of ironwire will always be one-of-ones.
What does byAVA consist of?
upcycled byAVA
There’s so much stuff in the world. Like too much stuff. Because of that I try to upcycle as much as I can. Each hoodie and pair of jeans on this site has been ironwire-ified in some way. Cutouts. Amoeba patches. Menswear silhouettes. I’ve put the ironwire stamp on each and every piece.
cut and sewn byAVA
Fairly self explanatory, so let me self explain. These aren’t upcycled old garments (see upcycled byAVA). Instead, they are pants and shirts that I have patterned, cut, and sewn myself. Each garment is unique. If you have a cut and sewn byAVA piece, you know 100% that you have the only one on planet earth (Enough with the dramatics, I know. I can’t help myself).
commissions byAVA
Making pieces for a specific person is always a fun project. So I’m taking commissions!
What does taking a commission look like/entail?
Remember what I said about ironwire being all about standing out while fitting in?
Well this is the part where you tell me how you want to stand out, and I figure out how to make you something that lets you do that while fitting in.
We’ll start with a short chat about what you want. I’ll get your measurements and two weeks later, you’ll have your very own ironwire original.
The cost?
What’s a working girl to do? Well this working girl has decided that the only thing harder than making great clothes is figuring out how much to sell them for.
Industry standard = (materials + labor) x 2.something
Here’s what I can promise:
ironwire standard = less than that
