Welcome to the ironwire family

I believe most people (myself included) are searching for belonging – yearning to fit in while also yearning to stand out. ironwire tries to address those weird, confusing and contradictory feelings through clothing. 

ironwire clothing is designed to stand out while fitting in.

The pieces are unique, interesting, and always joyful. This is done by taking established silhouettes and twisting them in surprising ways, providing the wearer with the opportunity to be noticed in a crowd while remaining totally approachable. 

That push and pull between the mundane, witty and playful is where ironwire lives.

My goal is to make clothes that leave you feeling both comfortable and unique. My hope is that in some small way this gives you the confidence to live a life that is bold, risky and vulnerable. 

If you’ve read this far, I promise I’m about to wrap it up. Just let me quickly explain this first drop.

It’s composed of a small-batch manufactured side and a one-of-ones side. The manufactured pieces are made in America at a tiny volume. There are only 50 pairs of pants and 40 button-downs. The one-of-ones are pieces made by me (Ava!) in my studio.  So basically that means there isn’t a lot of this stuff. And when (fingers crossed) the drop sells out, the pieces and colorways in it will never be made again.

Ok, here's the TLDR: ironwire is a clothing brand that is playful, smart, put together, funny, and exciting all in one. It’s filled with contradictions just like us. There are very low quantities. So join in. Wear ironwire. Stand out in the good way without even trying.

What’s with the name?

ironwire? Weird name, right? Well, not actually. Let me explain:

My great-great-great (I don’t know how many greats, but trust me it’s a lot) grandparents lived in Germany. One day the authorities showed up at their ghetto and told them they had to pick a last name (don’t ask). At the time they had 18 children (again, don’t ask). They chose the name Eisendrath because iron is a strong metal and wire binds things – they wanted to emphasize that they were a “strong family bound together.” So family is at the center of everything ironwire the brand does. 

Blah blah blah. Everyone talks about family and community. But what does family actually mean? 

For us, it means that everyone is welcome to take a seat at the table and break bread. We value kindness and compassion for others while staying authentically yourself. 

We are Type B presenting with a Type A neurotic core. We lead with comfort, imperfections, and a casual, nonchalant exterior, but inside we are hardworking, emotionally complex balls of hopes, dreams, and anxieties.

ironwire’s clothes are a manifestation of these core family values. 

We are a community. Here to make you feel comfortable, safe and gorgeous, the way you should feel with family.
